Being Snowed About Snowden

edward.snowden.thumbSomething doesn't add up. If the UK Guardian article about National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden is to be believed, this young man has been on the NSA's secret hyper track.

Mr. Snowden has lived quite the life the last 10 years.

Mr. Snowden is currently 29 years old. In the article we learn that by age 20 (at the latest), Mr. Snowden had dropped out of high school, "attended a community college in Maryland, studying computing, but never completed the coursework." He eventually completed his GED.

By no later than his 20th birthday he enlisted in the Army and begins "a training program to join the Special Forces," but is discharged from the Army after breaking both legs in a training accident.

Next on the Pathway to High Performance, Mr. Snowden gets his first job at an NSA facility "as a security guard for one of the agency's covert facilities at the University of Maryland." One wonders why the NSA has a covert facility at an American university, but that's a topic for another blog post.

The article then says he "went to the CIA, where he worked on IT security." How did he get such an important job in his early 20's? Well, it seems that he had an exceptional "understanding of the internet," not to mention a "talent for computer programming."

All of this resulted in Mr. Snowden rising "fairly quickly for someone who lacked even a high school diploma."

Indeed! Oh but wait! It gets better.

At the ripe old age of 23 or 24 years of age, the CIA stations Mr. Snowden "with diplomatic cover in Geneva, Switzerland." This job gave him the vital "responsibility for maintaining computer network security" and a security clearance. This clearance gained him access to "a wide range of classified documents."

How convenient!

This story is almost too unbelievable for even Alex Jones...

Jason Collins & SCOTUS

Jason Collins and SCOTUSCall me a conspiracy nut, but I believe there is more to meet the eye than just a professional basketball player publicly declaring his homosexuality.

Food for thought:

Could the timing of Jason Collins' public declaration have anything to do with the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) currently deliberating on California's Proposition 8?

Could the fact that uber-liberal Congressman Joe Kennedy III was Mr. Collins' college roommate and current close friend and his marching in gay pride parades, as mentioned in Collins' Sports Illustrated article, have influenced the timing?

It is well-documented that some justices can be swayed by public opinion and media pressure, Chief among them John Roberts.

It's just a thought...

Taking Back Right Ground

I need your help.

Our nation is perilously close to going off the edge of immorality's cliff.

The United States Supreme Court is actually deciding the fate of biblical marriage. Or is it?

As a nation, we have murdered in excess of 50 million unborn babies over a 40 year period.

We are on the brink of economic suicide with no real signs of taking the hard measures to right the insane and untenable spending.

People blame Democrats and/or Republicans, others blame the voters. And to some real measure they are all, we are all, guilty of aiding and abetting our immoral government.

But where does the real blame lay? If you were to ask the late, great 19th Century Revivalist Charles Grandison Finney, he would lay the blame at the feet of America's pulpit.

Heed his powerful and prophetic words penned on December 4, 1873:

Brethren, our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours in a great degree. If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. Let us not ignore this fact, my dear brethren; but let us lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation.

Nearly 40 years before that in his Lectures on Revivals of Religion in 1835, Finney wrote:

God cannot sustain this free and blessed country, which we love and pray for, unless the church will take right ground. Politics are a part of religion in such a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to the country as a part of their duty to God. It seems sometimes as if the foundations of the nation were becoming rotten, and Christians seem to act as if they thought God did not see what they do in politics. But I tell you, he does see it, and he will bless or curse this nation, according to the course they take.

It is time to take back right ground. I am asking you to help me launch TakingBackRightGround.com, a website designed to equipping pastors and lay leaders with political commentary through a Biblical lens.

Taking Back Right GroundWe will provide them with a weekly newsletter on non-candidate, issues-oriented insights and actions for Christians. It will come with a bulletin insert. This will be information on what pastors can and should say and do on current issues.

To the left is our trademarked logo designed by the incredible Jason Zoglmann.

I am not asking you to donate directly for the start up of this website (although if led to you can do so). What I am asking you is to join The Truth Watch so you can receive our weekly newsletter The Truth. If each of you join for an annual fee of just $10, not only will you get our excellent newsletter, but you will also be a part of launching a much needed resource to pastors across America.

Please prayerfully consider joining The Truth Watch today and let's begin taking back right ground.

What the Message Needs To Be

Yesterday I sent out a message via my email list and social networks and asked, when you read this, what comes to mind?

"When it comes to social issues, the Party must in fact and deed be inclusive and welcoming. If we are not, we will limit our ability to attract young people and others, including many women, who agree with us on some but not all issues."

Before we look at some of the responses, please take a few minutes to watch my video response:

Now for some of the responses. First, my devotional response can be read at:

Makes Men Forget All Pity

Here are some of the responses my readers submitted:

That's a vague statement that can be adapted to whatever the speaker/writer wants it to mean.  What social issues?  Whether or not women should breast-feed in public?  Or whether or not they should be free to abort their children?

Fundamentally disagree on this philosophy.  "Inclusive and welcoming" in today's jargon means "anything and everything" in order to secure votes. So, we compromise on basic principles, acknowledging every perverse lifestyle as OK and equal.  The Party should never lower its standards and the bar just to attract support...to do so will take us down the path of liberals and we'll end up in the trash heap, as we will well deserve.

Ronald Reagan, an old white rich guy according to this RNC report, won 49 states and brought millions of young people into the Republican party with strong support of social, fiscal and national defense conservative principles. He didn't compromise his values, he led the way and those who agreed with him all or most of the time followed. . the RNC wants to ignore this model and compromise, rather than lead by principle, as if Reagan never existed. Well how well has that worked with moderates like McCain and Romney? (Answer: Not too well)

What comes to my mind is fear! Fear for my future grandchildren and the kind of junk they will have to face in this world because WE have become so "Inclusive and Welcoming". Sometimes you just have to agree to disagree and not be so accommodating.

I believe the question is over broad and cannot be answered as written. The 'some social issues' must be defined. Clarity will enable the writer to separate preference on issues from non-negotiable issues. God bless.

A Traitor.

ALL parties are focusing too heavily on social issues.  IMHO.

Jesus Wept for Hugo

There's been much hullabaloo, celebration, and fanfare about the death of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez. The Drudge Report  had this headline:

Hugo Headlne

Here is a tough teaching for Christians. While many rejoice over Hugo Chavez being in Hell, Jesus wept over His loss. How do I know this is true, that it is aletheia truth? Scripture tells us:

"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

Here is another tough teaching. To desire someone to go to Hell means you do not understand the reality of Hell and/or do not have a full understanding of the Cross of Christ.

Am I glad Chavez is no longer alive to terrorize his own people and be a threat to the security of the Western Hemisphere? Absolutely!

Do I rejoice that he is in Hell? My Lord does not allow me.

"Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles." (Proverbs 24:17)

It is natural to rejoice when evil loses, but understand evil has already been defeated. It lost when Jesus uttered His last words from the cross, "It is finished." The Apostle Paul asked,

"O Deathwhere is your stingO Hades, where is your victory?"  (1 Corinthians 15:55)

My family has suffered great loss in the last month, however we rejoice in knowing that my brother and niece are in Heaven because of their trusting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

My prayer is that their deaths and Chavez' demise make each of us consider our future in eternity.

Template for a Third Party

Yesterday my pastor and I were having breakfast together. He asked me if I thought there would ever be a major third political party. I told him that if Karl Rove wins the battle for the GOP in the 2014 mid-term elections, there will definitely be a third party.

Many pundits are describing the battle within the Republican Party as a civil war. I believe it is a revolutionary war because true conservatives, socially and/or fiscally-minded, are trying to start a new party within an old party, based on traditional principles and values.

saggy-back-rino

What we have in the current Republican Party are the Loyalists, known as Rove’s RINOs, and revolutionaries, made up of tea party members, constitutionalists, values voters, and anyone else opposed to maintaining the GOP status quo. It is the working class revolting against the ruling class.

If Karl Rove, in his faux Conservative Victory Group with front man American Crossroads’ President Stephen J. Law (who used to be the chief of staff for…wait for it…Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell), is successful in selecting “the right candidates” that are not far-right conservatives and Tea Party members, then the Republican Party is over. It will go the way of the party they replaced at their beginning, the Whigs.

And if we have a major third party that will surely split the traditional Republican vote, and we will lose more seats in 2014, and Hillary Clinton will be sworn in as the 45th and first woman President of the United States in January 2017.

If the Lord tarries and we still have a country, the new third party will have to coalesce by hopefully 2018 to win back congressional seats and put forth a strong candidate to beat Madame President Clinton in 2020.

This is why Karl Rove and his RINO Ruling Class must be defeated once-and-for-all.

Not a pretty picture, but we speak the aletheia truth here.

Not An Emperor

So Barack Obama was lamenting the fact that he is the President of the United States, not the Emperor of the United States.

Yes, Mr. Obama, that indeed is the fact and it was designed to stop tyrants such as you.

Conservatives Don’t Have a Messaging Problem; They Have a Governing Problem

Rubio addresses the American Conservative Union's annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in WashingtonOne day the Republican Party may actually get it. With great frustration, I read a Christian Post article reporting on National Review’s Summit, “The Future of Conservatism,” where the meme about messaging is resonating.

There is no doubt that the Republican Party is anemic in the ability to get their message out. That is true on all fronts. But that is not why the GOP loses elections.

The GOP loses elections because they govern like liberals.

The first TARP bill was passed in the Democratic-controlled Congress with 34 of 48 Senate Republicans and 108 of 199 House Republicans voting yes. That is 71% of Senate Republicans and 54% of House Republicans. When more than half of the so-called conservative party votes like liberals, then you can't really make the case that conservatives have a messaging problem.

Conservatives rightly complain about the nation’s debt, and Republicans in Congress decry the President’s out of control spending, but they don’t add in this inconvenient truth. They‘ve raised the debt ceiling every time they’ve reached the “fiscal cliff.” And spare me the idiotic statement that the debt limit wasn’t raised when you suspend it. It still allows for the actual debt to increase.

My buddy Steve Deace, nationally-syndicated radio host, puts it best. He has stated, "If Republicans actually lived up to their platform the American people might trust us more, and if we offered people solutions rather than philosophical mission statements the American people would almost always choose us over them."

Barack Obama was reelected because he turned out his base. Mitt Romney was defeated because he at best took his base for granted or worse, ignored it.

When you ignore an already disgruntled base by nominating a Governor who governed as a liberal, the mantra of “Stop the Obama Express” does not equate to large voter turnout.

Republicans do not govern like conservatives because they are afraid of being blamed for government shut downs, starving little children, and turning off old people’s heat. And when Republicans do give into the Democrats and govern like liberals, they get…wait for it…blamed anyway.

As I write this Barack Obama is delivering his partisan speech in what is traditionally known as the State of the Union Address.

Republicans have a key opportunity to go after Obama and the Democrats' destructive policies with relentless aggression. I am talking no-holds barred, winner-take-all battle royale of comparing solid conservative solutions to disastrous Democrat-liberal socialism. The contrast could not be more clear or stark.

If Republicans will simply govern like conservatives, then they will not only win back the White House and control of both houses, but they might actually rescue our nation.

Now that's a message that attracts voters.
