I need your help.
Our nation is perilously close to going off the edge of immorality's cliff.
The United States Supreme Court is actually deciding the fate of biblical marriage. Or is it?
As a nation, we have murdered in excess of 50 million unborn babies over a 40 year period.
We are on the brink of economic suicide with no real signs of taking the hard measures to right the insane and untenable spending.
People blame Democrats and/or Republicans, others blame the voters. And to some real measure they are all, we are all, guilty of aiding and abetting our immoral government.
But where does the real blame lay? If you were to ask the late, great 19th Century Revivalist Charles Grandison Finney, he would lay the blame at the feet of America's pulpit.
Heed his powerful and prophetic words penned on December 4, 1873:
Brethren, our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours in a great degree. If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. Let us not ignore this fact, my dear brethren; but let us lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation.
Nearly 40 years before that in his Lectures on Revivals of Religion in 1835, Finney wrote:
God cannot sustain this free and blessed country, which we love and pray for, unless the church will take right ground. Politics are a part of religion in such a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to the country as a part of their duty to God. It seems sometimes as if the foundations of the nation were becoming rotten, and Christians seem to act as if they thought God did not see what they do in politics. But I tell you, he does see it, and he will bless or curse this nation, according to the course they take.
It is time to take back right ground. I am asking you to help me launch TakingBackRightGround.com, a website designed to equipping pastors and lay leaders with political commentary through a Biblical lens.
We will provide them with a weekly newsletter on non-candidate, issues-oriented insights and actions for Christians. It will come with a bulletin insert. This will be information on what pastors can and should say and do on current issues.
To the left is our trademarked logo designed by the incredible Jason Zoglmann.
I am not asking you to donate directly for the start up of this website (although if led to you can do so). What I am asking you is to join The Truth Watch so you can receive our weekly newsletter The Truth. If each of you join for an annual fee of just $10, not only will you get our excellent newsletter, but you will also be a part of launching a much needed resource to pastors across America.
Please prayerfully consider joining The Truth Watch today and let's begin taking back right ground. If you are already a member, then please invite your friends, relatives, associates, and neighbors to join.
For Liberty!
